Getting started with posts

This feature is going away soon

Whimsical Projects, Tasks, and Posts will be sunset on January 15, 2026. You can export your data anytime before then, and your content will be automatically converted into docs on January 15 so nothing gets lost. For more information, please check out our FAQ.

When working on a project with your team, it makes sense to keep all important updates in one place - Whimsical Posts provide a dedicated space for important updates—without the noise of chat apps.

With different categories, and templates it’s easy and distraction-free to keep everyone on the same page.

What is a post?Copied!Link to this section

Posts are like mini docs, linked directly to a team or project and published chronologically:

You can create categories for your posts like “Status update” “Decision” or “Changelog”, then each category gets a simple (optional) template.

Pro tip: Embedding a presentation in a post, makes for a clear and engaging read 👌

Click + New post to create one right away, or keep reading about categories, templates, and the Slack integration.

Posts will be sent to everyone in a team or project based on their notification settings.

Anyone with access to the team or project can also choose to subscribe to notifications for future posts - or you can add subscribers when you create a post, if you’d like to notify specific people:

With Whimsical’s Slack integration, you can also have each category of posts shared automatically to a different Slack channel. Read on to learn how to set this up 👇
