Embed videos into your files

Whimsical supports embedding links from YouTube, Vimeo, and Loom, which means that you can watch videos directly from your Whimsical boards and docs.

Embedding video links

Simply copy and paste a compatible video link straight into your Whimsical file, and we'll automatically generate the embed view for you. You can also resize it by selecting the embed and dragging it from the corner.

Tip:

You can set the start time for your video to play from any part of the video, and we'll recognize that when it's included in the embedded video's URL.

Troubleshooting

If there is no thumbnail of your video showing on your board when you paste your link, or if you get an error message when you try to play your video, please check the sharing settings for your video link.

For Loom, you want to ensure that "Anyone with the link can view" is selected before copying the link to paste into Whimsical:

For YouTube, the video settings will need to be public or unlisted.
